summer-break

All of us here at GHE would like to thank everyone in our learning community for a great 2016-2017 school year.

First of all, we would like to thank all the students. You worked really hard this year and should be proud of yourselves. Now go and enjoy your summer. Play hard, run fast, bike your hearts out, and don’t forget to sleep in!

Secondly, a special thank you to all the parents, guardians, and family members for your support this year. Thank you for raising and supporting such amazing children so we can teach them…and so they can teach us!

Finally, we would like to thank the teachers and staff for a great year. It is crystal clear how hard you work and how much you care about all of these students. It’s what makes GHE such a special place to be a part of.

In looking ahead to the first week of school in September 2017, our school-wide theme will be “Building Community for Safe & Purposeful Learning at GHE”. We are looking forward to engaging all of our students and families in building our new GHE Code of Conduct.

Sports Day on Friday!!

Sports Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Just a friendly reminder that Sports Day is this Friday, June 16th. We have attached the “Shape of the Day” for both the Primary and Intermediate schedules to this email for your convenience. You will notice that although they will be doing different activities throughout the day, we have aligned all the times on both schedules so everything runs simultaneously. We encourage parents/family members to join us in encouraging our students throughout the day, so please join us on Friday if you can.

* Please note this is not an early dismissal day.  If you choose to take your child home early, he/she must be signed out with the classroom teacher and at the office.

RAIN PLAN – In the event of heavy rain on Friday, the staff will make the call by 8am whether to postpone to the following Friday (June 23) or continue as scheduled. We will email and send a text remind, so please make sure to check before bringing your child to school.

Hot Lunch – Hot lunch will proceed as normal on Friday regardless of rain, but it will be delivered at 11:35am.  Parents are welcome to eat with their children either inside or outside the classroom on Friday.

Team Cheers in the Gym at 9:15am – With increasing numbers in the primary grades this year, we have decided to not have the Kindergarten & Grade 1 classes in the gym for the Intermediate cheers. Many of the younger students were quite overwhelmed last year during the cheering, so we thought it best to invite these younger  classes down for the beginning of the assembly to “showcase their colours” before heading outside to begin their activities. Once the Kindergarten & Grade 1 classes have left the gym, we will proceed with the intermediate cheers.

Also due to our increased number this year and school fire code regulations, we are asking all parents to please STAY OUTSIDE of the gym during the assembly. We will have all the doors open so parents can hear the cheers. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you and hope to see you on Friday!
