Good Evening Parents and Caregivers,
I would like to start off by thanking the parents and students who organized the Halloween Dance last night. Thank you Mieke and dad DJs Sean and Matt for putting on such an amazing event. The GHE community is so supportive and inclusive – not to mention a lot of fun! This week, I also had the pleasure of taking 21 of our Grade 6 student leaders to We Day. Our team will now work with our school population to support local and global initiatives to raise awareness on issues that students really care about. Our school also participated in the Great ShakeOut on Thursday. Students debriefed the drill in class with their teachers but if you have a chance to discuss the event, especially with younger children, please take the time to do so.
Drop-off and Pick-up
I know that most of you are well aware of how challenging our parking and drop-off/pick-up situation is. We are an expanding neighborhood school and with the weather turning, I have to reiterate the importance of safety. Please remember that the loop is for drop-off and pick-up only. Whenever possible, please pull your vehicle up as far as you can in order to keep the flow of traffic going. If you are able to continue to walk or ride bikes, even as the weather turns, we would appreciate you continuing with that routine. Ultimately, we must ensure that all of our students arrive safety and we count on our families to help us with that.
Dogs on School Property
The Dogs on School Property Policy has now been passed. Please take a look at the language used. As a school community, we are able to develop our own plan, with the Policy as a foundation, to work together to ensure that all of our families feel supported. As always, safety is our number one priority so please keep your dogs leashed and clean up after them. Please do not bring aggressive dogs on property and never leave your dog unattended.
