GHE Update – September 18-22

Another week has flown by at GHE! Although the cougar sightings on Sunday and Monday seemed to occupy a lot our time, there was so much more going on!

  • Mrs. Parsloe’s class tallied up the funds raised for Terry Fox and we raised over $6000.00!
  • Mme Hardjorno and her kindies shared story time with their parents
  • Mme Dufresne and her grade 4 students sewed their own beautiful pillows
  • Genius Hour in Mr. Matheson’s class has started many amazing projects from a submarine to a website on how to make your own Halloween costumes
  • We now have not one but two student newspapers on the go. One newspaper is being designed from Primary and the other for Intermediate. A number of very keen students have been meeting to develop their plans, including comics, jokes, stories, colouring contests with some work being completed in French. The first issue for both papers will be released on October 9th
  • We continue to talk about safe play outside during both short and long recess. We would appreciate you taking some time to discuss safety with your child and what each of us is responsible for in order to keep GHE a safe place for EVERY student.

Next week:

A reminder that the Potluck and Parent Teacher night is Wednesday, September 27th. The potluck is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and teachers will be available to meet in their classrooms from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Scholastic Book fair will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mme B

Principal – Garibaldi Highlands Elementary
